Ocean Beach Pier

Twining Concrete Insight assisted with estimating the remaining service life of prestressed concrete piles, pile caps, and soffit panels. We evaluated the transport properties of the concrete mixtures, estimated the w/cm of the concrete mixes using petrographic methods, and performed modeling to estimate the remaining service life of the reinforced concrete elements. Based on our study, along with those by Moffatt & Nichol, the City of Oceanside has determined to replace the current pier considering the costs of rehabilitations or repairs. The Ocean Beach Pier Renewal project is currently underway.
